Orin ROCKS Block Party

The Orin ROCKS Block Party is an annual community event held in Downtown Northville, Michigan, designed to bring together local residents for a day of entertainment, food, and family-friendly activities. As the Head Event Coordinator for the 2023 and 2024 events, I was responsible for overseeing all aspects of planning, vendor management, and on-site coordination.

In both years, I managed a wide range of tasks, including hiring and coordinating with multiple vendors and entertainers. This included securing live music performances (such as the Love Junkies), hiring balloon artists, face painters, and live entertainers (e.g., MET Group), as well as organizing unique attractions like food trucks, a golf simulator, and a kids’ art project. Additionally, I worked closely with the City of Northville to ensure proper street closures and the correct placement of vendors, adhering to all local and state regulations.

During the event itself, I served as the on-site coordinator, directing vendors to their locations, managing event logistics, addressing community questions, and making public announcements, including the announcement of raffle winners.

In 2023, the event drew between 500 and 700 attendees, offering face painting, balloon artistry, live music, a live painter, and food carts as part of the entertainment lineup.

In 2024, the event expanded to accommodate 700 to 900 attendees, featuring new entertainment options such as a live fire performance, a golf simulator, and a kids’ art project, in addition to the previous year’s popular attractions like live music, food trucks, face painters, and balloon artists.

Through my leadership, I ensured that both events ran smoothly, fostering a strong sense of community while driving positive engagement with Orin Jewelers and local businesses.

In addition to my role as the Head Event Coordinator, I was solely responsible for the creation and execution of all marketing efforts for the Orin ROCKS Block Party. This included the design and production of both print and digital media, showcasing my ability to manage comprehensive marketing campaigns that targeted a wide range of audiences.

For the print materials, I developed eye-catching and cohesive designs for postcards, posters, yard signs, A-frame signage, banners, flags, and T-shirts, ensuring a consistent brand presence across all event-related collateral. My expertise in graphic design and knowledge of marketing trends allowed me to create materials that not only captured attention but also effectively communicated the event’s details and offerings.

On the digital side, I crafted and managed all social media marketing, including the creation of social square graphics, and I ran Meta ads to target local audiences and boost event visibility. I created a Facebook event page to engage the community and encourage attendance. In addition, I employed Slybroadcast voicemail marketing to deliver personalized voice messages to our customer base, enhancing customer engagement and personalizing the event promotion.

For email marketing, I utilized Emma mass email marketing to design and send targeted email campaigns, ensuring that customers and community members were kept informed and excited about the event. These campaigns incorporated strategic content and compelling visuals to maximize open rates and engagement.

By managing all aspects of the event’s marketing—both print and digital—I successfully promoted the Orin ROCKS Block Party, leveraging my skills in design, digital advertising, social media strategy, and email marketing to ensure maximum visibility and community participation. My ability to create and implement a full-spectrum marketing campaign directly contributed to the event’s growing success and increased attendance year over year.

City-Wide Ladies Nights

As part of my role at Orin Jewelers, I am responsible for the planning and execution of two Ladies Nights each year, which are hosted by the Northville Central Business Association (NCBA) in Downtown Northville, Michigan. These highly anticipated Spring and Fall events are designed to entertain women while fostering community engagement and encouraging support for local small businesses.

As the lead coordinator for Orin Jewelers’ involvement, I collaborate closely with the City of Northville, local businesses, and external vendors to ensure that each Ladies Night runs smoothly and delivers a memorable experience. This involves liaising with local business owners to align event objectives and working with the city to coordinate logistics, such as street closures and vendor placements. Additionally, I hire and manage all live entertainment, including securing a DJ to provide music and a stilt walker to enhance the event’s festive atmosphere, ensuring that entertainment aligns with the upscale and engaging nature of the event.

In addition to event planning, I am solely responsible for creating and implementing all marketing materials for these Ladies Nights. This includes the design of social media graphics, posters, and the management of Facebook event pages to promote the event online. My focus is on creating visually appealing and cohesive marketing that resonates with the target audience, driving excitement and attendance for the events. By utilizing my skills in graphic design, social media strategy, and event promotion, I effectively generate awareness and engagement for each Ladies Night.

Through my efforts, these events have not only enhanced Orin Jewelers’ visibility but have also contributed to the overall success of the Northville Central Business Association’s mission to support and promote local businesses. My ability to manage all aspects of these events—from coordination and vendor management to marketing and entertainment—demonstrates my strong organizational, communication, and creative skills, making each Ladies Night a well-attended and enjoyable experience for the community.

In addition to my responsibilities for coordinating the Ladies Night events, I developed and implemented the Shopping Passport program, a key initiative designed to increase foot traffic and boost engagement for all participating local businesses in Downtown Northville. The primary goal of this program was to address the issue of uneven foot traffic, particularly for businesses located off the main street, which historically saw less activity during these events.

The Shopping Passport required attendees to visit each participating business in order to collect stamps, which would make them eligible to win a raffle prize donated by the businesses. This program not only incentivized visitors to explore more of the downtown area but also gave smaller or less visible businesses much-needed exposure during these high-traffic events.

To successfully implement the program, I managed the logistics of coordinating multiple businesses, many of which had limited experience with event participation and technology. I facilitated communication through NCBA monthly meetings, on-site visits, and a series of detailed emails that included step-by-step instructions on how to print the passports, explain the program rules to attendees, and manage their role in the raffle. Additionally, I created a customer-friendly rules sheet for businesses to display, ensuring clarity and smooth operation during the event.

The program received overwhelmingly positive feedback from participating businesses, particularly those located off the main street, who reported increased foot traffic and visibility during the event. While some businesses noted that attendees stopped by primarily to collect stamps, I emphasized that the exposure alone was valuable, as it introduced new customers to their stores and increased future business potential.

In designing the Shopping Passport, I focused on making it user-friendly and easily replicable by participating businesses. The passport was modeled after a traditional travel passport, making it intuitive and familiar for attendees to use. I ensured that the design was simple yet professional, and could be easily printed by the businesses using standard paper and basic printers, minimizing any technical barriers.

Internal Events

During my time at Orin Jewelers, I took on the responsibility of coordinating and managing seven internal events annually. These events included Trunk Shows, Sale Events, Red Carpet VIP Experiences, and the Employee Christmas Party. My role in these events was comprehensive, covering everything from event planning and vendor coordination to the creation of all marketing materials and promotional content.

For each event, I was solely responsible for designing and producing all marketing materials, ensuring a consistent and professional brand presence across multiple platforms. This included the creation of social media graphics, Facebook events, and Meta ads to drive engagement and awareness. Additionally, I designed and distributed postcards, special invites, posters, duratrans displays, and magazine ads, ensuring a cohesive promotional campaign tailored to each event’s target audience. By utilizing my skills in graphic design, marketing strategy, and digital advertising, I successfully promoted these events, resulting in high visibility and attendance.

My role extended beyond marketing, as I frequently worked with external vendors to coordinate collaborations for these events. This included securing vendors for special in-store experiences during Trunk Shows and collaborating on exclusive product features or demonstrations. In managing these partnerships, I handled scheduling and the integration of vendor-specific content into our broader marketing campaigns. I ensured that all vendor contributions aligned with the event’s overall theme and objectives, enhancing the customer experience and driving engagement.

For the Red Carpet VIP events, which were designed to provide an exclusive, upscale shopping experience for our top customers, I took special care to craft personalized invitations and create a luxury atmosphere that reflected the Orin Jewelers brand. These events involved careful coordination of logistics, customer engagement strategies, and high-end catering, ensuring that each guest received a memorable and elevated experience.

Through my leadership in these events, I demonstrated my capacity to manage end-to-end event logistics, create compelling marketing materials, and foster relationships with both vendors and customers. Each event contributed to Orin Jewelers’ overall success by enhancing customer loyalty, increasing brand visibility, and strengthening employee morale. My strategic approach to event planning and marketing ensured that all internal events were well-executed and met the company’s objectives.
